LingonBerry
The
lingonberry is a small, red fruit grown on bushes less than
a foot tall. It is also known as cowberry, partridge berry,
mountain cranberry, rock cranberry, dry-ground cranberry,
lingen, lingberry, fox berry, and red berry.Lingonberry is
rich in organic acids, VC, VA (as beta carotene), VB (B1,
B2, B3), and the elements potassium, calcium, magnesium, and
phosphorus. In addition to these healthful nutrients,
Lingonberry also contains phytochemicals that are thought to
counteract urinary-tract infections. Lingonberry has a long
history of medicinal uses. This fruit can lower cholesterol
level, cure gastric distress, rheumatism, articular pains
and tonsillitis. It can also relieve symptoms of carbon
monoxide poisoning and sunstroke. Lingonberry solution can
serve for
freezing
compresses and sometimes for ablution of varicose ulcers.
Hot lingonberry drinks can be used as diaphoretic and
febrifuge. The berry has a slightly sour taste when eaten
fresh, but really excellent in the finished products which
